According to multiple news sources, the Governor of Taraba State in the central eastern part of Africa's most populous country Nigeria has been involved in an air crash that is said to be in critical condition. Jalingo the state capital reports that there were others on the plane (who are feared dead) although no accurate report or number has been ascertained.
The State's deputy was impeached barely 3 weeks ago on the 4th of October leaving the Senate Leader as the heir apparent should the Governor not survive.

The developing plan to oust the jihadist forces controlling northern Mali is moving forward, with regional security talks in Bamako starting on 19 October and a meeting between the Algerianand French Presidents on the following day.
